 When to use:

If you help someone with a special enrollment period, your work should be captured to report to SHIP.

 Step by step instructions:

Step 1:  On the case benefits tab, there is a new section for SEP.  The default is No, because most cases are not for SEP. If this does become a request for a special enrollment period (SEP), use the slider to indicate Yes.

Step 2:  You can choose more than one Reason for SEP. These match the list on Medicare.gov for programs offered in Minnesota. If this SEP is related to the end of the public health emergency (PHE), choose “Unique/special situation” at the bottom of the list, along with any other reason that applies. Fill in the Reason for SEP Special Situation text box and include PHE in your explanation.
Actions Taken by SLL is another place where you can choose more than one item.  If you know the Outcome of SEP, fill in that box, another dropdown. Most often you won’t know the result.

Step 3:  If the person calls back to report on their SEP, go into the existing case and change Outcome of SEP from “—” to the appropriate choice.

*As a reminder, on your phone call activity, you will still choose Medicare topics for plan comparison, enrollment, or other work you do.  These get reported to different places, so you get to fill in some of the same information in 2 places.
